 What Heart Rate Monitors are Supported by iSMARTtrain?
iSMARTtrain supports the following Polar models XTrainer, Accurex, S410, S510, S520, S610, S625X, S710, S720i, S725, S725x & S810. The software supports both the 'i' and the original (non-'i') version of these models.
What Do I need to Download Data from My HRM?
Macintosh:
- If you are using the XTrainer or Accurex models, you need the Polar Interface Plus and a Serial-USB adaptor, such as the Keyspan USA-19HS.
- If you are using one of the S series models listed above, you need the Polar IR-Serial interface (not USB) and a Serial-USB adaptor, such as the Keyspan USA-19HS.
- If you are using one of the SonicLink devices (S410, S510 or S520), you need a compatible microphone for your Mac.
Windows:
- Polar IR-USB interface, Polar IR-Serial interface or an IrDA interface (for 'i' models only)
- If you are using one of the SonicLink devices (S410, S510 or S520), you need a compatible microphone for your PC.
Can I use the Polar IR-USB Adaptor with my Macintosh?
No. iSMARTtrain does not currently support the Polar IR-USB Adaptor. The reason for this is that the device is not completely compliant with the USB1.1 specification. This has been confirmed for us by engineers working for Apple's USB development team.
 Does iSMARTtrain work with the new Intel-based Macs?
Yes, iSMARTtrain works perfectly with the Intel-based macs. If you are using a Serial-USB adaptor, you do, however, need to make sure that you have Intel compatible drivers for it.
What Serial-USB Adaptors work with iSMARTtrain?
We recommend the Keyspan USA-19HS Serial-USB adaptor for use with iSMARTtrain, but any device which is supported by Mac OS X, and is physically compatible with the Polar Interface (i.e. has the right plug on it) should work.
Only 'Modem' and 'Bluetooth' show up in the 'Ports' popup menu?
You don't have the drivers for your USB-Serial adaptor loaded.
Does iSMARTtrain work with my 'XXXX' model HRM?
iSMARTtrain only supports the Polar devices listed above.
Will you support my 'XXXX' model in a future release?
We will look at adding support for other devices as the development of iSMARTtrain progresses. Our primary aim for the moment is to support the Polar range of devices. If a manufacturer would like OTAG Technologies to support one of their devices in iSMARTtrain, please contact us. We require details of the unit's communication protocol, and, ideally, a sample unit on loan for testing.
